Tabou Restaurant

The hubbie and I dined at Tabou, last Friday night. Tabou is a lovely French Restaurant, situated in one of Sydney's very busy restaurant quarters: Crown Street, Surry Hills.

I usually try to not eat too much dairy, as I am technically allergic to it- but how can anyone pass up a twice baked goats cheese and Gruyere soufflé? I certainly can't! It was a melt-in-your-mouth, gorgeously extravagant, and satisfying! The allergies will just have to suffer! (soufflé pictured above).

The hubbie had the Bisque.

I love visiting Tabou. The service is always friendly and helpful, the food exquisite, the atmosphere cosy, romantic, and a little like you have been transported to another place, and perhaps another time!

Wednesday is Accessory Day! Cocktail Rings

I love a statement piece of jewellery. Since my designs are a statement in themselves, and I often wear my designs, I usually wear less jewellery. However, there is always room in my outfit for a good cocktail ring or a beautiful brooch!

I have included some of my favourite cocktail rings, which are currently being sold on Etsy. All three are below $100 USD.

I admire each of these rings, as they have been made from something that you don't find many places! They are very unique in their own way!

Besides my engagement and wedding rings, I only own one other ring, which is this Cocktail ring, pictured in the above and below photo. I bought it from a local market, and I love it! I wear it constantly.

There are many other cocktail rings to choose from on Etsy. Take a look!

Competition! Win 1 of 2 Penelope Red Scarves

I am very excited to announce that I have a brand new Penelope Red Competition!

To celebrate the new Autumn/Winter styles that are now available in the Penelope Red Etsy store, I will give away two handmade Penelope Red Scarves. Two lucky winners will win one scarf each. You just have to choose which one you prefer!

The Penelope Red "Red Lantern" Scarf

Or the Penelope Red "Blue Nightingale" Scarf

The details of how to enter are below.

Please take a moment to look at each scarf in detail:

Red Lantern Scarf:

This scarf has been made from several beautiful fabrics, including a Japanese printed cotton in black, white and red; a silk/linen blend in bright red; and two black silk satins- one of these is used for the lining.

Measurements: 18cm x 155cm (7 x 61 inches)

As you can see from the photos, there are numerous ways to drape and wear this scarf. Penelope Red scarves can make any outfit come to life! Even a plain black top and a pair of jeans.

Blue Nightingale Scarf:

This scarf has been made from various fabrics including: bright blue silk; printed silk satin; printed cotton stripe; oriental embroidered silk satin; and black silk satin for the lining.

Measurements: 21cm x 155cm (8.5 x 61 inches)

I especially love the above look! You can do this with either scarf, as they are both long and soft enough.

How to enter:
1. Choose which scarf you would like to own. Please only choose one.
2. Either become a fan of the Penelope Red facebook page, and then comment on the posting where it says:
"Competition! Win 1 of 2 Penelope Red Scarves!"
OR
Become a follower of this blog, and while you are logged in, comment on this posting. (The "follower" widget is under the slide show to the right)
3. In the comments, just write "Red" for the "Red Lantern Scarf", or "Blue" for the "Blue Nightingale Scarf".
4. At the end of this month, I will draw the winning names from a hat, and the two winners will be contacted via their facebook or follower details!

Postage for the winners will be, of course, free.

Good luck to everyone who enters!

The Penelope Red Navy Fluted Skirt and Autumn Flowers Blouse

I wanted to show off the Penelope Red Navy Blue Pinstripe Fluted Skirt, and the Autumn Flowers Bow-tie Blouse. I am so happy with this outfit! They look fantastic together!

I have already added the skirt to my etsy store, and the blouse will be added in the next few days.

Etsy only allows for five photos per design, so I like to use my blog to show you more photos, so you can see the design from as many angles as possible, inside and out!

I love the skirt so much because it is sophisticated, elegant, while also being seriously sexy!

Wear it with a collar shirt and simple black heels, and it could be easily worn to the office. You could wear it with the Autumn Flowers Bow-tie Blouse, or another top of your choice, and then you can wear it out after work, or on a night out with the girls!

The waistband has been decorated with a gorgeous top-stitching in mauve/lilac, so the choice of wearing a belt is completely optional. Additionally, the darts and side seam have been decorated with the same top-stitching detail.

The Navy Pinstripe Fluted Skirt is made from a recycled 100% Pinstripe Wool, and is lined with polyester lining. The fishtail hem is lined in a mauve recycled crinkled organza.

The Autumn Flowers Bow-tie Blouse is made from a gorgeous printed silk chiffon. It is a loose fit, and falls lightly over your body, draping as only silk chiffon does.

I highlighted the cuffs with contrasting satin covered buttons, that tie in with the red colour in the print.

I will always love big bows! They add drama, excitement, and a little old Hollywood flare! I also love big full sleeves right now!

I thought you might also like to see the skirt off a body, and take a peek inside, as well as see it on the mannequin:
